See the Páramo de Chili, a unique high-Andean moorland ecosystem.
The distinctive, hairy plants are Frailejones (genus Espeletia), which play a crucial role in the region's water balance.
It is located in the Tolima region, more specifically near Cajamarca, and is part of the Anaime-Chilí regional natural park. It lies at an altitude of approximately 2,700 to 3,900 meters above sea level.
This ecosystem functions as a huge water reservoir. The Páramo de Chili alone supplies about 74 million cubic meters of water annually, which is essential for the drinking water supply of over 1.5 million people in the region.
