The trailhead of Berthoud Pass Trail is located right next to the big parking lot at Highway 40. From here you have to cross the highway and head to the west. The trail starts in an alpine forest and soon starts to climb up until you reach the ridge and can enjoy the unobstructed views all around you. Please be aware, that the pass already lies at more than 11,000 feet, so you're hiking in high altitude.
