Koronowo, located a short distance from the then Polish-Teutonic border, was repeatedly exposed to raids by the Order's troops. During the Great War (1409-1411), on October 10, 1410, in the area of the village of Wilcze (11 km north-west of Koronowo), a victorious battle against the Teutonic Knights took place for the Poles, henceforth called the Battle of Koronowo.
As a result, the Teutonic Knights' attempts to take over Kujawy and Greater Poland in order to force the Polish side to quickly and favorably end the war were thwarted. The battle also contributed to increasing the glory of Polish weapons and had a significant impact on the peace agreement in Toruń in 1411, as a result of which the Order returned Samogitia temporarily to Lithuania and permanently returned the land of Dobrzyń to Poland. At the beginning of December 1410, the units of the Tuchola commander, making a raid on northern Kujawy, captured Koronowo, robbed and burned the town, and murdered many inhabitants. At that time, the location privilege, renewed the following year, was lost.
