The ridge path over the Holubnik to/from the Vogelkuppe is not only a beautiful raised bog and protected area for black grouse and capercaillie, but is also the watershed between the Baltic and North Seas. To the north, the water flows via the Smedá into the Baltic Sea and to the south via the Jizera and Elbe into the North Sea.
