Dürr-Ellenbach was first mentioned in a document in 1437. After it broke out in the Thirty Years War, some residents settled again in the period that followed. In 1829 there were still 52 people living in the village, but the barren arable land was no longer able to feed it. With the exception of the residents of the Göltz estate (today's forester's house), all residents emigrated to America in the following years.
The Dürr-Ellenbachtal is now a popular destination for hikers and cyclists

Together with a barn used as an animal feed store, the buildings of the forester's house are the last remains of the earlier settlement. The residents of Dürr-Ellenbach left the uneconomical valley in the 1850s and emigrated to the USA.
