Dürr-Ellenbach Forester’s House

Together with a barn used as an animal feed store, the buildings of the forester's house are the last remains of the earlier settlement. The residents of Dürr-Ellenbach left the uneconomical valley in the 1850s and emigrated to the USA.

The place Dürr-Ellenbach was first mentioned in 1437 as Dorn Elbach. Over the centuries, the name changed over Dornelnbach to Dornelbach, Dürnelbach and Delnbach.
In 1829 the village consisted of five houses with 52 inhabitants. In this time, the living conditions were getting worse, so that the inhabitants emigrated to America. Today there is only one farm left, which was used until 2005 as the official residence of the forester of the district forestry Dürr-Ellenbach. After the forestry form, the forestry was dissolved and the forester's lodge is now a forester as a rental apartment.
