The 17th of February is the perfect day to go there. There is a torch walk by night to the monument and then a concert and a bonefine.
It a religious memorial for the Valdesi Christian confession.
It's not uncommon to find wildboards at the dawn and the sunset.

A stone memorial in the tiny space of a lawn is the minimum form that a memorial monument can take. This is the case in Sibaud. The inauguration of the monument was a particularly significant moment of the celebrations held on the occasion of the 2nd centenary of the "Glorious Repatriation" in 1889.
It was a question of recalling a dramatic moment in the 17th century Waldensian story. When they arrived in their lands many of the participants in the expedition considered the long march to be achieved and the expeditionary force began to disintegrate.
Henri Arnaud, as chaplain of the expedition, intervened, and of authority he gathered the troops, pointing out that only with a unitary commitment could the Franco-Savoy offensive be tackled. He was able to engage soldiers and officers in an oath of mutual loyalty and resume the business.
This pact (in the English world of the time the term "covenant" was used), an oath of union, inspired at the end of the nineteenth century a hymn still widely sung in Waldensian communities: the Serment de Sibaud (in Italian "I swear").

A monument erected just above the inhabited area of Bobbio Pellice, to symbolize some feats made in the past by the Waldensians.
