The valley of death is the hottest place in the US and is very scenic and also versatile. Even if you can hardly believe it. After heavy rain, nature awakens and shows what she can do with a huge flowering and variety, as in spring 2016; very unexpected.

Death Valley National ParkA great feeling to be in the Mojave Desert, in the Valley of Death. The heat is just 108 Fahrenheit. It is evening and without effort this warmth is even pleasant.

We were very happy that we were able to drive alone and autonomously in the desert with our rented jeep and drive as we wanted and not in one of the coaches that stopped here and from which many people suddenly spilled out around the Death Valey National park to visit. As the largest national park outside of Alaska, Death Valley, the "Valley of Death", is an almost unfathomable place. Covering a total area of over 13,300 square kilometers (slightly smaller than Schleswig-Holstein), the park includes mountain-high sand dunes, salt flats far below sea level, mysterious “singing” stones and colorful sandstone canyons.
Extremes are the norm here: Death Valley is the hottest and driest place in America - with summer maximum temperatures of around 50 ° C and an average annual rainfall of only 5 cm (or 50 ℓ / m²). But the height differences within the park are also extreme:
The Badwater Basin, the lowest point, is 86 meters below sea level, while the Telescope Peak reaches a peak height of 3,368 meters. So climb up or down, warm up or "chill" with the wonderful views of the desert landscape: The Valley of Death offers something for every taste!visitcalifornia.com/de/destination/spotlight-death-valley-national-park
