Originally a Romanesque church from the 1100s, the church was converted into a late Gothic hall church in the 14th and 15th centuries.

During the French period, the entire contents were seized.

In 1893 the spire was rebuilt and new stained glass windows were installed. The stained glass windows in the middle choir were gifts from the castle, the others were gifts from parishioners.

In 1910 the center choir was extended and two new sacristies were built. During the First World War the church was almost completely destroyed.

After the war, only fragments of the south wall with old tombstones and the tower (55 m) remained standing. Reconstruction started in September 1921. The church was put back into use on Pentecost 1923. The post-war church now has three central windows in stained glass, with good drawings and strong colors.

The church has been a protected monument since 1939.
