View from the road of the castle of Saint-Florent-sur-Cher, today a magnificent town hall.
Its origins date back to the 12th century and it was initially built as a rectangle, with four round towers at the corners, a walkway and in its center a central courtyard. All that remains of this ancient fortress is the wing facing the entrance, a tower and the chapel.
The current red brick cladding and the double exterior staircase are not original but were added by one of its owners at the end of the 19th century.
The building has been listed as a Historic Monument since 1936, when the town purchased the estate by public subscription.
