Corral de Calatrava is a municipality located in the heart of Campo de Calatrava and the Guadiana River and its tributary, the Jabalón River, run through its terminus. Furthermore, on the edge of its territory the emblematic Castle of Caracuel stands out, which has very remote historical antecedents.
The Peñarroya Volcano constitutes one of the best examples of a Strombolian building in the Campo de Calatrava volcanic region. It stands out for its height (814 meters), which rises as an almost perfect cone on a quartzite ridge-plain at 740 meters, being the highest of the pyroclastic buildings in the region.
The Peñarroya Lagoon owes its origin to the damming of the headwaters of the Arroyo del Lobo by the pyroclasts emitted by the Medias Lunas Volcano and by the flows from the Peñarroya Volcano.
In Corral de Calatrava is the Church of Our Lady of the Annunciation, a geotic-Mudejar building from the late 15th century. From the same century is the Hermitage of Our Lady of Peace and the Hermitage of San Antón.
The Puente de la Ovejas is from the 16th century, where Paleolithic remains have been found, there is another one from the 18th century with seven eyes.
