HISTOUR Point WÖ7 | Harbor of the Wurt Village of Wöhrden on the Bay of Dithmarschen

Originally, the Wurt Village of Wöhrden was located directly on the Bay of Dithmarschen. Even the oldest dike (around 1100) appears to have reached directly onto the raised Wurt, making it accessible by watercraft from the southwest.

After the Bütteler Koog was built in 1601 and again after the construction of the Christianskoog in 1845, the harbor had to be relocated to the new outer dike on the seaward side. It was located at the point where a large drainage stream from the marshland west of Wackenhusen was channeled through the respective dike with the help of a sluice. The landing stage existed until 1978 and was finally abandoned with the construction of the Speicherkoog.
