It takes a special type of brave soul to bike this winding, two-lane road... not just because of the practically non-existent shoulder but also because bears often linger near the road to graze on spring and summer vegetation. Still, some people do it. If you do it too, you should be as high-visibility as possible, bike defensively, carry bear spray, and know what to do in case of an encounter.
