The Pilsudskii manor had a wooden palace building, a three-story mill, a brickyard and other buildings. in 1875 almost all the wooden buildings of the manor burned down during the fire. The manor never recovered after that, and the Pilsudski family moved to Vilnius. in 1934 The Zalaw manor with all the buildings was bought by the Union of Polish Reservists. in 1935 maintenance of the former manor began: an office was rebuilt on excavated foundations, the bakery and forge buildings, the old smokehouse were repaired. A museum and a reading room with the works of J. Pilsudskis were installed in the former bakery. A lot of attention was paid to the improvement of Zalav Park. Seedlings were transported even from Warsaw. Next to the remains of the manor in 1937 an oak tree was planted, which is still standing today. Unfortunately, during the Soviet era, everything that was done in the interwar years was destroyed. People who came mainly from Belarus and Russia settled in the remaining office buildings, and Soviet farms were built nearby. Only after the restoration of Lithuania's independence did this place begin to be better managed.
