Alfred Wegener (1880-1930) was a researcher who not only wanted to decipher and understand the secrets of nature, but wanted to come to grips with their own measurements and observations. After studying in Berlin, he first worked at the Meteorological Observatory in Lindenberg near Beeskow. There he set a world record in 1906 with over 52 hours of balloon flight. After World War I he became Professor of Meteorology and Geophysics in Hamburg and Graz. Alfred Wegener made four trips to the polar region; He died in 1930 on his great Greenland expedition. In Zechlinerhütte, the family spent many summers and holidays in his childhood. With authentic testimonies, the museum presents Wegener's life and develops questions (especially climate change) that arise from his work for us today.Source:
