The Limes Saxoniae was an unfortified border that separated the Frankish sphere of influence from the northern Elbe region of the Abodrites 1200 years ago.
The Abodrites (8th-12th century) were an Elbe Slavic tribal association in the area of present-day Mecklenburg and eastern Holstein.
