"Buch-Eich" is a natural monument in the suburb of Schiffrain of Oppenweiler and is according to information board at 471m above sea level.
The beech oak originally consisted of two trees grown together (beech and oak).
It was destroyed by a lightning strike and re-planted in 1951 with a rooted beech and oak.
Today Buch-Eich is a popular meeting place for hikers and cyclists.
Tables and benches invite you to take a break. You can take a look from the top to Oppenweiler and Murrtal. The access roads are partially closed on Sundays and public holidays.
The Musikverein Reichenberg e.V. organizes every year on Ascension its traditional book-Eich-Fest with musical entertainment.

The traditional book Eich Fest is the ideal destination on Ascension Day. It was first held in 1929 and has since become one of the most popular festivals for hikers, cyclists, families and day trippers in and around Oppenweiler.

The festival is located in the middle of the beautiful Swabian-Franconian Forest, and can only be reached on foot or by bicycle on the feast day.
