The Austrian logistics complex of Campo Gallina constitutes the natural compendium of the Ortigara area. Located at the foot of the western slopes of Mount Colombarone in the upper Portule valley, the Campo Gallina basin became, after the retreat of the Austro-Hungarian troops at the end of the Strafexpedition (June 1916), one of the main logistical centers of the 6th Div . a.u. organized as a real citadel equipped with a hospital, shop, cinema and church, barracks, shelters and warehouses.
