Built between1895 and 1899, Hearthstone Castle is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.

It was originally built for E. Starr Sanford. It then changed hands several times before being bought by the City of Danbury in 1987. The castle has now fallen into disrepair and the roof collapsed. You cannot enter the castle, but it is a very interesting site to see how nature has reclaimed the building.
