A visit to the Baltic Sea resort of Warnemünde also includes a walk on the 541m long West Pier. The West Pier, which extends far into the Baltic Sea, serves primarily as protection and a breakwater. The deliberately built and well-fortified pier breaks the tremendous force of the Baltic Sea crashing in bad weather.
