On the bank in front of the castle, on a ledge, is the cannon area, which was created for a cannon named Le Flambard that was captured in the Franco-Prussian War. The cannon was moved to Silesia in 1938. Today's cannon was acquired by the municipality of Flechtingen through donations in 2004. The new cannon weighs 1,400 kilograms and, at 5.31 meters long, is larger than the previous La Flambard.
