Immediately after the aggression of the Third Reich against the USSR, a camp for Red Army soldiers, Stalag 325, was established on Karolówka. It operated from June to September 1941. It was located in the site of a brickworks excavation, covering an area of approximately 20 hectares. The camp was surrounded by a ditch and barbed wire fences, some of them were electrified. The prisoners were held in the open air. Diseases, especially typhus and dysentery epidemics, hunger and weather conditions decimated the prisoners. By the end of October 1941, approximately 11,000 people were murdered and died.
