The trail along the quarry rim opens up here; you can stand on the edge of it and peer down into pools of water and across the old quarry. On clear days you can also see the summit of Mount Holyoke from this opening in the trees. Be on the lookout as well for porcupines who live in the woods and make dens in rocky outcroppings. They're good climbers, so be sure to also be looking up in the trees as you explore this area.
