This peak seems small in comparison to the surrounding peaks, but Confalonieri peak stands at 2,422 meters above sea level. The view from here is extraordinary. The peak is named in honor of Carlo Confalonieri, the archbishop of L'Aquila in 1941 when he climbed with a group of pilgrims on the Gran Sasso.
This point roughly marks the transition between the higher, rocky, technical terrain, where running is very difficult, and the easier, lower terrain, where you can run easily, especially if you're going downhill. Enjoy the ride and admire the view!
