Tips

  • "A white-painted 2.4 m tall sculpture of a fisherman and child holding hands. The fisherman is pointing out to sea. A disused whaling harpoon and ship's anchor are situated alongside the sculpture." Source: artuk.org/discover/artworks/fisherman-and-child-307115 - where you can look at some good close-up pictures by the way.

The sculpture was gifted to the town of Mallaig by the sculptor, Mark Rogers, to represent its great maritime heritage. Unfortunately, access to the statue is denied (see one of the photos attached to this highlight), but you can see it either from one of the ferries entering or leaving the harbour, or from the opposite of the harbour, e.g. while sitting on the following bench: komoot.com/highlight/6072708
