It will be over seventy years this year that the foundation stone for St. Peter's Church in the Steinwald has been laid. The desire for a separate church existed long before, but only in the post-war years, this became a reality. The Förderverein Steinwaldkirche celebrates the jubilee at the patronal feast on Sunday, 2 July with guest of honor Bischof em. Wilhelm Schraml. The believers in the southern Steinwald used to have to march to Erbendorf for up to an hour. From the late 1920s on the construction of a church was thought. "Yes, you Stawalder are smart! A school have it, a tavern have it and now it's no need a Kirch'n". That said Erbendorf pastor Johann Nepomuk Heigl to concern. The original plan was to build the church between the school and the inn in forests. To finance a passbook was created and the farmers drove already field stones for the foundations. But the global economic crisis in the early 1930s made the plans a niece.
