This is the high pass separating craggy Gau Graig at the eastern end of the Cadair Idris massif and the Dyfi Hills. The A487 road makes use of it, as do the Cambrian Way and the Snowdonia Way long distance footpaths. It’s a good viewpoint for the isolated peak of Rhobell Fawr, which rises out of the Harlech Dome's hinterland to the north.
