The chapel was built in 1948 in remembrance of the “visit” of the statute of the Virgin Maria of Fatima in 1947. The chapel itself has some fame due to the frescos.
There used to be a windmill on the building spot which was heavily damaged during war.
Now adays situated in a recent wine field, on the crossings of walking and bicycle ways.

The chapel was erected in 1948 after the statue of the Virgin Mary from Fatima toured Europe and was also in Otegem. It was built on the site of the Herrekot mill, which was severely damaged during the Second World War and subsequently demolished.
This chapel is located at almost the highest point of Otegem, from where you have a beautiful view of Zwevegem, Heestert, Otegem, Tiegem, the Kluisberg, Banhoutbos, etc ... Inside you will find a marble altar with a statue of Our Lady of Fatima and a barrel vault with frescoes by Tahon from Ghent.
