Arheilger Mühlchen - Swimming Lake 🚴‍♂️

The Arheilger Mühlchen is located in the Ruthsenbach green belt. The lake has a water surface area of 14,800 m², with an average water depth of 2.20 m. The natural swimming lake has been used as a public swimming pool since 1924. In 2015, the Arheilger Mühlchen was listed as a historical monument.

Until 1843, the lake was leased to the miller Vöglin. After that, it became privately owned. In 1854, it was drained and subsequently used as a meadow. A few years later, the former lake was flooded again. The Arheilger Mühlchen remains privately owned to this day. The lake was originally called Unterer Arheilger Teich, Unterer Arheilger Woog, and Unterer Woog. The name Arheilger Mühlchen refers to a former neighboring grain mill. Herons and other waterfowl can often be seen in the Arheilger Mühlchen's water lily-covered foreshore. The European pond turtle is also native. The park has an old stand of trees.
