To get to the trailhead, you drive up the Minnie Gulch OHV Road from the Animas River. The road is not super technical and you can make it up without 4WD. You will see wildflowers, waterfalls, and mountain scenery along the way.

There is an old mine by the parking lot where you can see rusted out ore crushers and other abandoned equipment.
