An entertaining contribution to the Alte Schneeberger Landstrasse:

With all types of bicycles (except racing bikes) easy to use forestry path with historical significance (how the "Hinterland" got its name):
Until 1826 (completion of the road to the Zollbuche), the “Schneeberger Landstraße” was the only access for the people in the upper Salzbödetal via the old Höhenweg (Westfalenweg) past the Dünsberg in the direction of Gießen. The south-eastern neighboring villages in the Salzböde valley (including Lohra) belonged to Kurhessen and were "foreign" from 1648. The villages on the upper reaches of the Salzböde (and the communities in the district of Biedenkopf to the north) belonged to the distant Darmstadt. For their rulers, they lay behind the impassable mountains around the Koppe and could only be reached via this "country road". This is how the "Hinterland" got its name and the Alte Schneeberger Landstraße its meaning.
