    Hiking

Nestled in a peaceful corner of southern Snowdonia, Abergynolwyn is a picturesque little village with a rich slate mining heritage. The nearby Bryn Eglwys quarry employed around 300 men at its peak, while the lovingly restored railway still survives today. There's a cafe in the village and a pub: the Railway Inn.

The village is the ideal basecamp for a traverse of the Cadair Idris massif, south Snowdonia's greatest mountain. Accommodation wise, there are a few guesthouse options and there's the Fferm Cedris Farm Campsite, which also has self catering cottages available and is open during the warmer months.

The Railway Inn is a cozy and very hospitable pub. The burgers and soup of the day (sweet potatoes) were fresh and delicious.
