The Darss Museum is located between hundred-year-old oaks and rhododendron bushes, in the middle of a park-like complex. It was founded in 1953 as a local history museum and expanded into a landscape museum in 1980. The building, constructed in 1939, is a listed building and used to be a residential building with guest rooms.
