The North Country National Scenic Trail is the longest national scenic trail in the United States. It starts in Vermont and ends in North Dakota, passing through six other northern states along the way.

As thru-hikers move from East to West, they would end their hike along the trail here in Lake Sakakawea State Park after hiking over 4,800 miles.
