Perched at an altitude of 2,200 meters, Lake Tracouet is also called “Lac Noir” for the dark color of its water.
Home to exceptional flora, it has been included since 2001 in the Federal Inventory of amphibian reproduction sites of national importance. In 2020, it was classified as a “protected natural site” by the Canton of Valais. You can easily observe red frogs or Alpine newts.
With its panoramic terrace and a well-stocked menu, the Restaurant de Tracouet also makes the place a privileged stopover on any route passing nearby.
