The building was built around the mid-thirteenth century. In the 15th century, the choir received a stellar vault. Later, the "baroque" windows were enlarged and the number of openings was reduced. In 1781, the parish received a brick tower superstructure with a wooden lantern. On July 6, 1974, lightning struck the tower and destroyed the wooden structure. The Volunteer Fire Department managed to prevent the fire from spreading to the nave and saved the bell. Craftsmen replaced the destruction with a simple tented roof, but did not brick the tower to its original height. In the first quarter of the 20th century, a church painter painted exposed wooden beams in the nave with rich ornamentation.
