StoryGarnholt was first mentioned in 1292 in the chronicle of the Rastede monastery. There three court positions are mentioned, which are subject to tithes for the monastery. In 1428, four domestic jobs are mentioned in the warehouse book of Drosten Jacob von der Specken in Garnholt, as well as in the Oldenburg contribution register of 1679. There were no Köter or hay jobs. Only in the 19th century was Garnholt more intensively settled. The first houses in Garnholterfeld are mentioned from 1815. The 1816 census showed 12 houses in Garnholt, in 1997 there were 69.In 1874, the brick factory owner August Lauw acquired one of the four farmsteads, had it demolished at its original location and rebuilt in the middle of his Garnholt estate as Gut Groß Garnholt
