Lake Mitchell is a man-made reservoir that was built in 1928. It used to supply drinking water for the town of Mitchell, but due to a degradation of water quality, it is no longer used for drinking water.

Now, Lake Mitchell is used for many different recreation activities, including kayaking, biking and hiking. There are several picnic areas and restrooms as well.
