Gaussian triangle point Deister I of the Hanoverian degree measurement 1821-1823. In July 1822 the mathematician and geodesist Carl Friedrich Gauss (1777-1855) carried out angle measurements with a theodolite on this point. In doing so, Gauss pointed to distant target points in a triangular network when the view was clear at the time. Unfortunately no more a clear view today .. Due to deforestation and beetle infestation, clear view again since 2020
