In 1619, shortly before the outbreak of the Graubünden turmoil, the current building was erected as a hall church without a choir. The latter was only added as an extension in 1776. The steeple, which adjoins the long side of the church in the north-west, dates back to 1700.
The great village fire in 1887 also devastated the church, which took two years to restore immediately and gave the tower its present pointed spire.
