The parish church of St. Georg is enthroned on a hill above the Drautal valley at 733 meters above sea level, visible from afar. At this point there was already a temple in Roman times in honor of Celtic deities. The church itself dates back to 1285 as a noble church of Count von Sternberg. In 1499 a written reference was made to a parish at this point. The church building got its current appearance in the course of the 15th century, but the original Romanesque elements and decorations in the interior have been preserved. Restorations have been carried out time and again over the decades, and in 1997 a large fresco of a 15th-century sundial was discovered and uncovered. The church roof is currently being re-covered with wooden shingles. The view from the church or cemetery to the Drautal and the Karawanken is overwhelming - outstanding 👍👌😊.
