WELCOME TO THE COLORFUL GARDEN

The Colorful Garden in the center of Mönchengladbach is one of the city's most popular public parks, covering around 30 hectares. It stretches from the Kaiserpark to the main cemetery and also includes the Botanical Garden on Bettrather Strasse.

The history of the park began in 1890 with the creation of the Kaiserpark, which is now characterized by old trees, some of which are over 100 years old, including the stately copper beech (Fagus sylvatica 'Atropunicea') or the Hungarian oak (Quercus frainetto).

The Botanical Garden is known nationwide for its large number of rhododendrons and azaleas, which bloom in spring.

The Botanical Garden's other themed gardens include the Apothecary's Garden, the Kitchen Garden, the Holly Garden and the large conifer section with around 800 different conifers. Here is a stately old coast redwood.
