A lot of hikers end their hike at the "Y", but heading up to the actual mountain summit is worthwhile and offers a lot of solitude. The actual high point on the mountain is the east summit at 8,568 feet, but the trail leads to the west summit (which still offers great views). If you want to run up the east summit, you'll have to hop off trail for a few hundred meters, but it is easy to find your way.

The running is tough as the trail is overgrown in places, but the grades are definitely runnable.
