The author of this highlight chose the corner of Schlossberg and Lorenzgasse as a special view of the castle. Admittedly, there are more impressive views of the castle hill and the buildings that dominate it, but this spot is certainly interesting. However, no one should be put off by the accompanying photos. They were taken from various locations. There are even pictures from the other side of the Elbe.

The Albrechtsburg Castle on the castle hill in Meissen is one of the most famous late Gothic architectural monuments and is considered the first palace built in Germany. Starting in 1471, the Wettin Electors and Dukes of Saxony had a residential palace built there on the site of an older medieval castle. In 1710, the Meissen Porcelain Manufactory moved in. After 1864, the castle was remodeled again, and numerous rooms were decorated with historical paintings.
