Since 1848, a tell-tale for shipping has been burning at this location. Initially, the light was located in a dome on the facade of a house, the detector house. Around 1912 the light was moved to a wooden turret in the dunes in the vicinity of the house.

In the Second World War, both the turret and the old sentinel house were destroyed. After the war, the light was rekindled on a 3.8 meter high round concrete turret built in 1948. The sentinel house was also rebuilt, complete with a dome in the facade. There is a plaque on the house about the history of this house.

The curb had a fixed white light with a red sector. The light height was 14 meters above sea level and the light had a range of 9 nautical miles.

In 1996 the light was extinguished and the lighting installation was removed. The Sillem family, who rented the house as a holiday home before WWII, rebuilt the house and used it again in 1948. On her initiative, in 2012 a luminaire was made from residual material and a lamp that works on solar energy was installed. The light does not shine towards the sea so as not to confuse ship traffic. The site is not open to the public.
