Located in the municipality of Gargnano (BS), the Ponte Cola dam blocks the waters of the Toscolano stream, a tributary of Lake Garda, creating Lake Valvestino, named after the valley of the same name. The barrier is an imposing "domed" concrete structure built in the two-year period 1960 - 1962 which, thanks to its 122 meters of height and its development of 282.45 meters at the crown, creates a reservoir of 52 million cubic meters of water used for the production of electricity.
