Stepping stones on a bridlepath aren't exactly helpful when you're on a mountain bike - and they're occasionally submerged! But they're often still navigable even when they are if you take care.
It *is* fordable, but you're pretty much guaranteed wet feet. And waterproof socks won't help; they'll just keep the water in.

Stepping stones was completely underwater today. One point wasn't possible without swimming, no exaggeration, so we decided to turn back having got wet feet at 2 of the crossing points

Savage section of 'hike-a-bike'.
I've done this twice now and now the field after the river has got the cows in there, so the boggy terrain has been torn up and is a mud fest.
There is a section you have to walk betwen the gorse bushes and with the muddy ground, you get pretty torn up and ankle deep mud even on the last weekend of July!
Would recommend avoiding now unless you want to hike a bike for 30 minutes and have the rest of your ride with soaking, muddy feet.
