Bad Rothenfelde without graduation towers would be like Paris without the Eiffel Tower. Inconceivably! Their original benefit had nothing to do with health at all. As part of the saline operation, they were only meant to make salt production more efficient. saline? graduation tower? Where is the difference?

Salt pans produce salt. In Brittany, for example, with the help of the salt marshes. In Bad Reichenhall, the brine from the mine in Berchtesgaden arrives in the saline. And in Bad Rothenfelde, the brine bubbles up from the springs with a salt content of 5%. For the first time in 1724, when the old spring was only drilled for the purpose of salt production. 5% is quite a lot if you take a sip of it or get it in your eyes while bathing. That's little if 95% of it is boiled away as water to get to the precious "white gold". So these huge evaporation plants were put in between. Now the brine trickled off the blackthorn, deposited the fine iron, gypsum and lime particles around the branches and the salt content increased to 25%. The optimal saturation before the boiling process was thus achieved. In 1777 the old graduation house and in 1824 the new graduation house were put into operation. Underneath, the Kurpark has a pipe system that resembles a metro. The two graduation towers and the Salinenhof, which has since been demolished, were connected underground.
