In the horse grave at the Reddingbotpad dune crossing are 8 horses that drowned during a rescue operation in 1979. A sailing yacht was in distress and the car with the lifeboat was pulled into the waves by 8 horses, as usual. But this time the wagon got deeper into the water than usual, the horses could not be released from the heavy vehicle in time and were pulled down by it. The crew of the sailing yacht could be saved as the lifeboat was not damaged, but the horses were lost.
