    Port and Fishing

Caorle is a seaside village that preserves and carries on its ancient traditions handed down from generation to generation, so much so that fishing is still today, together with tourism, the main activity to which many caorlotti are dedicated (this is how we inhabitants of Caorle call ourselves !).

The Fishing Port absolutely deserves a visit, especially in the afternoon to witness a ritual that has lasted for centuries: the fishermen, moored their boats, wash and repair their nets with the same ritual that has been repeated for generations!

Of the various canals that crossed Caorle, today only the internal Rio remains, i.e. the fishing port, which with its marine microcosm welcomes those arriving here from the hinterland.

Up until the last century, the port was crowded with bragozzi, the two-masted fishing and cargo boats of the Northern Adriatic with the typical trapezoidal sails (known as lugsails). Today, from time to time, especially in the summer, it happens to admire them still moored.

Here in the fishing port, the ferry to Venice starts every day at 8:00 a.m. and arrives here again in the evening.

Caorle is magnificent in all seasons. The fishermen who bring excellent fresh fish to the town which are offered in the various restaurants are famous.
