1950s March 9, on the eve of the Soviet elections, Laukstenių village. the bunker area was blocked by the soldiers of the garrison - the head of the MGB department of Ignalina. a military-chekist group of 17 people of lieutenant Zinchenko and captain Moiseyenko. The soldiers came by car from Pašvoginė, and walked to the end of the road to the bunker. Another group of soldiers remained in ambush in case the partisans thought of retreating to the side of the village of Užzienieu.
The guard, having noticed the enemies, ordered to leave the bunker and prepare for defense. About 1 km. from the bunker, the pursuers hit the partisan ambush - killed 1 soldier and wounded 1. However, while retreating, the partisans split up one by two and became a target for the soldiers themselves.
Those retreating to the Foreign side hit the entrenched machine gunners and were killed one by one. P. Cicėnas - Žalgiris tried to ride a horse out of the encirclement, but the bullets grazed him too. Two fighters fell on the burial mounds of Laukstenii. Of the twelve partisans, seven were lucky enough to leave happily. Petras Cicėnas, adjutant of Loki's national team commander - Žalgiris (from Daubariškės village), Erškėtis company commander Albertas Vytėnas - Siaubas (from Ažvinčių village), Šventojis district staff officer Jonas Čičelis - Ramūnas (Šermukšnis) from Rokėnai village were killed during the retreat. and Stasys Butrimas - Vengeance (from Jakėnai). Red Army privates Tolkach and Arzubov were wounded during the pursuit of the partisans, the latter died of his injuries on the same day.
The bodies of Žalgiris, Siaubas, Ramūnas and Keštas were taken by substations to Kazitiškis and kept overnight near the school, in Baubin's garden. No one was guarding the corpses - elections were taking place and Kazitiškis was full of troops. Until dark, partisan goods were transported from the bunker in several substations - the harmonica was played - the stalwarts celebrated the destruction of the "bandits".
In the morning, after taking the corpses to the substations, Ignalinon took them away: they took off their shoes, closed their mouths with rosaries, put prayer books in their hands. For greater mockery, some were propped up with their feet upright, others were made to sit down - as if the "bandits" were holding a rally. It looked terrible: barefoot, P. Cicėnai's fingers were only on the skin - the shots hit his hand. A. Vytėnai's head was torn off by a grenade explosion. One of the dead was literally cut in half by a burst of machine gun fire.
The circumstances of the destruction of the Lauksteniai bunker are well known: the report drawn up by the MGB states that the operation was carried out on the basis of a report by the informant "Ragauskas".
