The guard, having noticed the enemies, ordered to leave the bunker and prepare for defense. About 1 km. from the bunker, the pursuers hit the partisan ambush - killed 1 soldier and wounded 1. However, while retreating, the partisans split up one by two and became a target for the soldiers themselves. Those retreating to the Foreign side hit the entrenched machine gunners and were killed one by one. P. In the morning, after taking the corpses to the substations, Ignalinon took them away: they took off their shoes, closed their mouths with rosaries, put prayer books in their hands. For greater mockery, some were propped up with their feet upright, others were made to sit down - as if the "bandits" were holding a rally. It looked terrible: barefoot, P. Cicėnai's fingers were only on the skin - the shots hit his hand. A. Vytėnai's head was torn off by a grenade explosion. One of the dead was literally cut in half by a burst of machine gun fire. The circumstances of the destruction of the Lauksteniai bunker are well known: the report drawn up by the MGB states that the operation was carried out on the basis of a report by the informant "Ragauskas".
